The Ultimate Vampire Resource and Directory

I saw a soft white light behind my closed eyelids. I took a deep breath, and noticed that I no longer felt any pain. I was warm - and numb.

I was in my bed, and the bedclothes were tucked in around me. I slowly opened my eyes, and blinked a few times, allowing my vision to adjust to the light.

"Gal - you gave everyone a scare." I looked over to my left to see Huey sitting next to the bed. With his crossed legs, he looked quite relaxed. "You've been asleep for two days, and it won't hurt ya' to sleep some more. But - you could use a drink, hon."

Huey stood up, and began to prop up pillows behind me, so that I was in a seated position.

He then retrieved a small glass from the nightstand; it was half full with blood.

"I just got a few sips for you, honey. It's still quite warm. You need your strength."

I must have had an untrusting look on my face, because he then stated "It's my blood. It'll do you good."

I took the glass from him and took a tentative sip...it was delicious. Sweet. I received a jolt of electricity as I drained the glass.

"Wow" was all I could utter. Huey chuckled under his breath. "Wow indeed, Isis..." He made me lie back down as he dabbed at my lips with a damp washcloth.

As I felt the rush of Huey's blood flow through me, I thought of Erik, Gad...and Ankh-Re. A sudden wave of sorrow enveloped me.

"Erik and Gad are as you are, Isis. They are alive and asleep - and just down the hall, honey. Now - you go back to sleep. That Anna of yours will be in shortly, with her fussin' and carryin' on."

There was silence between us for a moment.

"And what of Ankh-Re?" I finally asked.

Huey's face remained calm as he said "I threw his carcass down in your wine cellar. We'll deal with him later."

This is such a good story and really has me not wanting to read more, because it will be over all to soon!!
